We are the teachers of the Be the Change 12th grade team.  Students on this team take the following classes: Math/Physics, Participation in Government and Economics, English, Creative Writing and a Service Learning class.  They will also complete graduation portfolio pieces in each of these classes.
In addition to students’ academic classes, this year the students on this team will participate in a service-learning program. The goal of the program is to help the students become active citizens who can identify community needs, learn academic information, take action based on what they have learned, and then reflect on their experiences. 

Every Thursday afternoon, students will leave the school setting and travel to the Tolerance Center or the Action Center in order to participate in workshops and interactive discussions.  On Fridays, in their service class at school the students will review what they learned at the Tolerance Center and the Action Center, plan and complete an action for their community members and then reflect on the process. Students will complete a native language project for their senior graduation portfolio in this class. It is mandatory that they attend all sessions both in and outside of school.

We know the students have many ideas and are very creative. We look forward to helping them find ways to take their skills out into the real world to make a difference and become true leaders!
